Julio Panchon, 29, was recently released from prison after serving time for selling drugs. Panchon spends his lunch breaks from temporary work with his mother.

After spending time in transitional jobs, Panchon lands a full-time job assisting a contractor. The job was vital, but Panchon says he is “still looking for a career. It’s just a stepping stone.”

Panchon served 6 years in prison for selling drugs.

"Sometimes change is good, sometimes change is needed. In my case, change is needed," says Panchon.

While the process of change requires patience for Panchon, he states "everything is smooth for me now, that's because I got balance."

"Things are normal for me now. I'm not used to normal yet, but I'm getting there. I'm getting to know what normal is."

Vanessa Lugo, recently released from prison stares up at the New York Stock Exchange. "I wake up every morning looking forward to seeing my moms, to go places I never went before," says Lugo.

Lugo takes special pride in being able to reconnect with her family and friends after her release.

Lugo works a demanding factory job cleaning linens for hotels in the Bronx.

Lugo regularly visits her mother who requires aid with her complicated medicine intake. The visits also provide time to connect and a free meal with family for Lugo.

Revond Cox, 25, served over 2 years in prison and returned home to a very supportive, yet different, family situation than the one he left. One of his two sons died while he was incarcerated and he is no longer with the mother of his remaining son.

Cox approached his new situation with commitment and motivation. However, he must still tackle finding work, caring for his son and navigating old relationships and obstacles.

Cox embraces his son Malachi while getting dressed for the day ahead.

"My son teaches me something everyday...everything that he does. I mean he brings me to that reality that I'm a father. He shows me that, you know, everything I was doing, it wasn't worth it, because he's worth it. He's worth the time of being out here. I couldn't ask for nothing greater."

Cox spends the day at the beach with Malachi.
